What is diabetes?
In Medical Terms we can say,
diabetes is a disorder of the metabolism causing excessive thirst and the
production of large amount of urine.
In layman language we can say, Diabetes
is a disease with person having high blood sugar (glucose) in his/her body.
Glucose amount in your blood changes every
times. It depends upon what you eat, for how much you eat whether you do yoga’s
or any exercised to get control to it. Now you may be thinking what should be
glucose (sugar) level in normal human body.
What are Normal Blood Glucose Levels/Non diabetes person?
Normal blood Sugars which defines
a person as Non-diabetes is 60-120 mg/dl (Milligrams per decilitre). We can also
consider a person as Non-diabetes when he consumes a lot of carbohydrate and
its blood sugar levels get rise to 140 mg/dl. In case of fasting (no food
eating for eight Hours) blood sugar level is between 70-99 mg/dl
What are Different types of diabetes?
There are different types of
diabetes like type 1, type 2, gestational diabetes, diabetes LADA, diabetes
MODY, double diabetes, type 3, steroid-induced, brittle diabetes, secondary
diabetes, diabetes insipidus and juvenile diabetes. Majority of the patient are generally having
type 1 or type2 diabetes.
What is Type 1 Diabetes?
This type 1 diabetes is also
known as “juvenile diabetes.” In Type 1 diabetes human body is not able to
produce adequate amount of insulin. Insulin is a hormone that needed to covert
starches, sugar and other food into energy. Type 1 Diabetes patients are
generally children’s or teenagers. In rare case type 1 diabetes is founded in
adults. The symptoms and signs include
loss weight, feeling very thirsty; need to go for urine often and hunger. In
complicated and serious cases, this type of disease may result to nerve damage,
Kidney Failure and blindness.
What is Type 2 Diabetes?
This is most common form of
diabetes. Around 90% to 95% of the people are affected from type 2 diabetes. In
type 2 diabetes people bodies make insulin but either their body does not make
enough insulin or it may be possible that their body is not able to use insulin
well enough. This is also called as insulin resistance. When insulin is not
used properly or when there isn’t enough insulin Glucose (sugar) will not get
into body cells and body will not able to function properly.
What are the causes of Diabetes?
The exact cause of type 1
Diabetes is unknown. It is believe that type 1 diabetes depends on
environmental factors and genetic susceptibility, though exactly what many of
those factors are still not clear.
Type 2 Diabetes is caused depends
on genetic factor and lifestyle of a person. Unhealthy Diet, Sufficient rest
(Sleep), Stress and lack of exercise.
